Upgrades

Upgrades System

In CounterAttack: Uprising the upgrade system revolves around collecting Green Lightningbolt Quantium (Q40), dropped by enemies. Quantium fills a power-up meter, allowing you to choose from various ship upgrades. Discovered during asteroid belt colonization, Quantium is an exotic matter with multiple forms and bonuses.

Speed (1 Quantium)

Each point in Speed increases your ship’s movement speed. Ships have a base speed of 3 (not shown on the power-up bar). Adding 1 point results in a speed of 4.

Spread (2 Quantium)

Each point in Spread increases the number of projectiles fired by your main gun, enhancing your weapon’s coverage.

Side (3 Quantium)

Side fires projectiles directly upwards and downwards. Each point increases the damage of these side projectiles.

Beam (4 Quantium)

Beam builds energy while firing, releasing a powerful penetrating ray when you stop. Each point increases energy buildup speed and maximum potential, also enhanced by upgrading Spread, Side, Power, or Plasma.

Missile (5 Quantium)

Missiles seek nearby enemies and can damage energy-immune targets like asteroids.

Power (6 Quantium)

Each point in Power boosts all outgoing damage, including Bubble Shield and Plasma Saw, and slightly increases follower damage.

Plasma (7 Quantium)

Plasma is a superheated weapon that damages energy-immune obstacles (e.g., asteroids) and deals bonus damage to environmental objects like trees and icicles.

Drone (8 Quantium)

A drone orbits your ship, absorbing one hit to protect you. It fires a weakened Spread projectile.

Add-on (9 Quantium)

Add-on increases the maximum upgrade level of all other upgrades, with no final limit, allowing indefinite scaling.

Life (10 Quantium)

Grants one free life and resurrects dead players, providing a critical survival boost.

Attachments

Attachments are the core of customization in CounterAttack: Uprising. Strictly speaking attachments aren’t necessary. The default weapons are not weak and in the hands of a skilled pilot can be very powerful. It can be a beneficial exercise to beat the game without using any attachments. Attachments come in two main types: Modules and Weapons.

Modules

Modules tweak ship stats (e.g., speed, size) or grant passive/active abilities, like attracting power-ups or instant jumps across the play field. Modules can enhance weapons, but don't change how they work.

Weapons

Weapons modify or convert offensive abilities, adding effects like damage over time or continuous beams. Combining them creates unique effects. Not all weapons are a total improvement! Some change the way the weapon works, making it better in some situations but worse in others.

Normal Attachments

Poor and Common attachments are sidegrades or minor upgrades, included in the player selector’s attachment count. In some cases, like with the Upgrade Computer, they actually decrease your ships versatility.

Uncommon Attachments

Offer minor improvements but can provide reasonable power increases when combined or fully equipped.

Rare Attachments

Powerful when skillfully applied, boosting defense or offense significantly. An appropriately selected full rare loadout simplifies hard levels.

Epic Attachments

These represent the best of the best and are not surpassed by anything else with the one exception being Unlock Chance as there are several non-epic attachments with higher unlock chance.

Seasonal/Secret Attachments

Special unlocks (e.g., Halloween, Christmas) not counted in the attachment database. They cannot be upgraded or combined.

Legendary Attachments

Cosmetic variants of Epic attachments with platform-specific implementations (e.g., Steam Items, Xbox Add-ons) and higher Unlock Chance attributes.

Dangerous Attachments

They often give powerful abilities or enhancements but with a deadly cost. They mostly unlock on the harder difficulties or game modes, and have a significantly higher chance to unlock on hard levels. Some of these attachments will destroy your ship, you’ve been warned.

Chaos Attachments

They don’t grant bonuses in themselves but rather change how your ship uses attachments. They are unlocked chaotically or by great feats of unusual skill.

Attachment Stacking

Additive Stacking

Values are added (e.g., +10% and +15% results in +25%, or 125% of regular damage).

Increasingly Multiplicative

Each value multiplies the previous (e.g., +10% and +15% results in +26.5%, or 126.5% of regular damage).

Diminishingly Multiplicative

Effects multiply with diminishing returns (e.g., 10% and 5% critical chance yields 14.5% total).

Max Stacking

Takes the strongest value (e.g., a 20% Aura and 15% Aura results in a 20% Aura).

Damage Stacking Formula

Displayed in the Garage’s bottom right for your equipped loadout: (BaseDamage + ScaleDamage * Level) * WeaponDamageMod * DamageMod * Aura.
